Shelter &Safety

Do you have a roof over your head? Do you live outside of a war zone? If yes, rejoice!

In addition to food, water and air, you also have the 4th and 5th critical components of physical health: shelter and safety.

We are talking about the very bare necessities of physical health here, so why is shelter critical? Well, even if you have all the food, water, and air you can eat drink and breathe, you will not be very physically healthy if you have no warmth and it is -10 degrees out, or if you have no shade and the sun burns you to a crisp, or if hail, snow or rain is constantly pelting you in the head.

Shelter = temperature control and protection from the elements. What is your shelter like? Do you have a shelter? If so, you should be happy. If your shelter has a roof, walls, insulation, running water, electricity and air conditioning, you should be astoundingly, incredibly, over the moon happy. If you have all of these luxuries AND you even have the time to think about the way your shelter looks, feels, and what you put inside of it, you are clearly swimming in abundance and are very advanced.

Now if you have food, water, air, and shelter, but you live in a radioactive sinkhole or bullets are constantly flying over your head, your physical health will surely be compromised. So, needless to say, safety is also critical to physical health.

Do you have food, water, air, shelter AND safety? If so, what on God’s earth are you complaining about?
